Frequently Asked Questions

Products & Ingredients

What is beef tallow and why do you use it?

Beef tallow is a traditional skincare ingredient rich in skin identical fatty acids that help support the skin's natural barrier. We use it because it deeply moisturizes, absorbs well, and is especially helpful for dry, sensitize, and eczema-prone skin.

Will your products clog pores?

Our formulas are designed to support the skin barrier, not suffocate it. Everyone's skin is different, so we recommend patch testing - especially if you are acne prone or using a product on your face.

Do your products with beef tallow smell like beef?

No. Properly rendered and purified tallow has little to no scent. Any added scent comes from skin safe fragrance or essential oils.

Are your products greasy?

Our products are formulated to absorb into the skin while still providing long lasting moisture. A small amount goes a long way. Using too much can feel heavy or greasy.

Are your products fragrance free?

Some products are fragrance free, while others contain skin safe fragrance or essential oils.

Skin concerns and safety

Are your products safe for eczema or very sensitive skin?

Many customers with eczema and/or sensitive skin find relief using our products. However, everyone's skin is unique. We always recommend patch testing before using any of our products.

Can these products be used on children and babies?

Our ingredient lists are simple and gentle, but with everything we recommend patch testing or consulting with a medical professional before use of our products. East Grease Skincare's founder Lisa uses all her products on her 3 and 7 year old :)

Can I use your products on my face?

Some of our products can be used on the face, depending on your skin type. Our whipped beef tallow balms are great for the face if it is unscented or scented with essential oils. Some people may break out from using a product with other fragrance. We recommend patch testing before putting a product all over your face.

Do you offer medical claims?

Nope. Our products are cosmetic and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.

How to use & Storage

How much product should I use?

A small amount goes a long way with our whipped tallow balms. Start with a small amount and then add more if necessary.

Can I put the whipped beef tallow balm all over my body?

Yes. Our whipped beef tallow balms are a great moisturizer for all over the body. Most of our products work best when applied on slightly damp skin, like after bathing or washing your hands.

How should I store tallow based products?

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Natural products may soften in warm temperatures and firm up in cooler temperatures. This does not affect quality.

Do your products melt in the summer?

Some products may soften or melt in high heat. If this happens, place the product in a cool area and allow it to re-solidify. You can whip it again if you wish.

Shelf Life & Quality

What is the shelf life of your products?

Most of our products have a shelf life of 6-12 months when stored properly. For best results, use clean hands when scooping out product.

Do you use preservatives?

We use preservatives only when necessary for water based products to ensure safety and stability. Anhydrous products (like tallow balm) do not require preservatives.

Ordering, Shipping, & Returns

How long does it take to process my order?

Orders are typically processed within a couple days. You'll receive tracking information once your order ships.

Do you accept returns?

Due to the nature of skincare products, we cannot accept returns. If there is an issue with your order, please contact us and we'll be happy to help.
